Ger Markey is an Irish artist who has lived in the United States since 1990..
Inspiration for her fused glass comes from the many ancient stone carvings found in areas like the Boyne Valley in Ireland, and especially megalithic passage tombs like Newgrange. She also draws inspiration from Celtic mythology and old illuminated manuscripts like the Book of Kells, which is evident in her watercolors.
Ger graduated from the Limerick College of Art, where she studied sculpture. She is also an accomplished stained glass artist, a craft she learned in Ireland and one she continues to work at for local studios in the Kansas City area.
